A recent report sheds light on the growing integration of generative AI (gen AI) in the workplace, revealing significant time-saving benefits for users. According to a survey conducted by Contentful among 820 professionals worldwide, approximately 37% of daily gen AI users are reclaiming up to 10 hours of their workweek. Moreover, another 38% reported saving between one to nearly five hours weekly, thanks to the adoption of gen AI tools.
The extent of time saved varied across job roles, with a notable proportion of individuals in technical positions reporting savings of five to 10 hours per week. Conversely, employees in non-technical roles were more likely to experience time savings ranging from one to just under five hours.
Karthik Rau, CEO of Contentful, emphasised the transformative potential of gen AI in fostering collaboration across teams and departments. He highlighted the importance of cultivating a culture of knowledge and responsible usage to fully leverage the capabilities of gen AI while nurturing team creativity.
The report also underscores the increasing availability of gen AI tools in the workplace, with over three-quarters of respondents benefiting from employer-provided access. A significant majority (61%) perceive this provision as beneficial, indicating a positive trend toward the adoption of gen AI. Furthermore, most respondents view an employer’s decision to offer access to gen AI tools favourably when considering potential job opportunities.
However, the report also notes that a minority of respondents (29%) express disinterest or perceive no need for generative AI tools at work. Reasons cited include concerns or fears (13%), lack of knowledge (16%), and limited opportunities for utilisation (11%).
In summary, the findings of the report underscore the growing prominence of gen AI in the workplace, highlighting its potential to streamline workflows and enhance productivity when integrated responsibly and with appropriate support and training.
