Deel, the global company specialising in compliance and payroll solutions, has reported a notable 59% increase in the recruitment of professionals in the fields of AI, Software Engineering, and Data Science within the past year.
The surge in demand for AI-related roles has been observed on a global scale, with a substantial rise in both the number of individuals hired and organisations actively seeking to fill positions, particularly in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
Canada has taken the lead in hiring AI professionals, followed closely by India, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom. According to Deel, India is at the forefront of creating new AI roles, with positions such as AI Engineer, AI Training Lead, and AI Computer Vision Engineer gaining prominence.
As of September 2023, Deel has reported an impressive portfolio of over 5,000 active contracts in the realms of AI, Data Science, and Software Engineering.
More than 2,100 organisations are actively participating in this hiring surge, exceeding initial growth expectations.
“The global phenomenon of increased AI hiring is unmistakable,” remarked Tarek Salam, Head of MENA Expansion at Deel. The company attributes the internationalization of AI talent to several converging trends, including the widespread adoption of AI technology necessitating a worldwide recruitment drive.
Deel emphasised that this shift towards global hiring has been facilitated by emerging models such as the Employer of Record (EOR), enabling the seamless cross-border integration of highly skilled AI professionals. The company expressed that the remarkable pace of growth in these sectors tells a compelling story about the evolving landscape of global talent acquisition.
