Experts say business insurance cover is a key consideration when starting a business.

New data from Compare the Market has revealed Australians’ most searched business ideas globally in the past year – and the results were surprising.

The business insurance comparison experts found entrepreneurs sought to start a construction business (11,000 total online searches) most, followed by cleaning (7,750), and clothing (5,800) businesses. Other top ideas included starting a dropshipping business and lawn mowing business.

Adrian Taylor, Compare the Market’s Executive General Manager of General Insurance, said having business insurance cover is one of the most important considerations when starting a new business.

“Different business ideas have different risks that could be covered by different types of business insurance policies. That’s why Australian business owners should take precautions by comparing business insurance policies and have a level of protection in the event of the unexpected. However, not every insurer will offer the same price and level of cover, so it pays to compare policies to find one that suits your new business.”

Adrian added, it’s important to Always read policy wording or the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Target Market Determination (TMD) to check for the inclusions, limits and restrictions before purchasing.
