National Apprenticeship Week is a time of recognition, highlighting the invaluable role apprenticeships play in shaping the future of the UK workforce. From 6th to 12th February, businesses, educators, and individuals come together to showcase the transformative power of apprenticeship programmes. TALiNT Partners is proud of the success of their Apprenticeship programme and believe in the value each apprentice brings to the organisation.

Christine Brotherston, HR and Operations Director at TALiNT Partners commented on the success of their Apprenticeship Programme, “There is no doubt that hiring an apprentice requires significant effort and commitment from an organisation, but what you get back makes it well worth it. We are a small company but since 2018 we have hired 6 apprentices. They have helped us become a more diverse business and build a talent pipeline for hard to fill roles that has made us more resilient. More than that they have shown a hunger to excel, a strong sense of loyalty, bundles of enthusiasm, fresh perspectives and as a result developed into highly skilled, valuable members of the team. As an added bonus they are, quite simply, a joy to be around!”

In a talent-scarce market “growing your own talent” has become a successful way for employers to build or design their future workforce. And hiring apprentices is an excellent was to do so.

Embracing skills development

At the heart of National Apprenticeship Week is the recognition of the importance of skills development in driving economic prosperity. Apprenticeships offer a unique pathway for individuals to gain hands-on experience, industry-specific knowledge, and nationally recognised qualifications. By investing in apprenticeships, businesses not only nurture talent but also cultivate a skilled workforce that drives innovation and competitiveness.

Addressing skills shortages

In a rapidly evolving job market, addressing skills shortages is paramount to sustaining growth across industries. National Apprenticeship Week provides a platform to showcase how apprenticeships serve as a strategic solution to bridging these gaps. By equipping apprentices with the skills and competencies needed in high-demand sectors, businesses can future-proof their talent pipelines and drive productivity.

Fostering diversity and inclusion

National Apprenticeship Week celebrates diversity and inclusion within apprenticeship programs. It highlights the importance of creating equal opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds to access rewarding careers and contribute to the UK economy. Apprenticeships empower individuals to pursue their passions and unlock their full potential, regardless of their socio-economic status or educational background.

Recognising employer engagement

The success of apprenticeship programmes is made possible by the unwavering support and commitment of employers. National Apprenticeship Week acknowledges and celebrates the contributions of businesses of all sizes in championing apprenticeships. Whether through offering apprenticeship opportunities, providing mentorship, or investing in training infrastructure, employers play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of skilled professionals.

Kayanna Moutarde, Events Apprentice at TALiNT Partners said, “Completing my apprenticeship at TALiNT Partners will equip me for any future roles I may have no matter the industry or sector. I have gained confidence in my interpersonal skills and communicating with customers which is something I have little experience in, I have also been exposed to experts within the recruitment industry which has given me industry-specific knowledge that I can take on board to any future role.”

Inspiring the next generation

National Apprenticeship Week inspires the next generation of talent to explore apprenticeship opportunities and kickstart their careers. Through a series of events, workshops, and outreach activities, young people gain insights into the diverse range of apprenticeships available and the pathways they offer to fulfilling and rewarding careers. By showcasing real-life success stories, National Apprenticeship Week instills confidence and ambition in future apprentices.

Amba Percy, Membership & Events Executive at TALiNT Partners, began her career as an apprentice at TALiNT Partners in 2021. When asked what about TALiNT Partners made her succeed during her apprenticeship she said: “The TALiNT Partners team were incredibly supportive throughout the entirety of my apprenticeship. The culture provided within the company was consistently positive and I credit my success within the apprenticeship programme to that.

I believe one of the main factors that helped me succeed was the encouragement of the team as they were all excited to see me grow and explore the world of work. They had trust in my abilities and allowed me to take on extra responsibility ultimately resulting in the success of my learning experience and my apprenticeship.”
