LinkedIn pays interns an average monthly salary of $7,360

According to a report by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, despite news of layoffs, employers plan to increase the number of internships offered this summer by 9.1%. The report surveyed 221 employers during the last two months of 2022 and showed a decrease from the 22.6% increase projected for summer 2022 after the pandemic-induced slowdown in intern hiring.

Shawn VanDerziel, the Executive Director of NACE, commented: “Our current projection is a sign of the increasing popularity of internships. Last year was a return to ‘normal’ after two years of reduced intern hiring.”

Companies like LinkedIn, which is ranked No. 16 on Glassdoor’s list, have well-established internship programs. LinkedIn pays interns an average monthly salary of $7,360 and has partnered with job training nonprofit Year Up for over a decade to create a talent pipeline from underrepresented communities in the tech industry. Interns undergo six months of skill-building followed by a six-month internship, with many offered full-time positions after the internship ends.

The report on high-paying internships by Glassdoor used data reported by U.S.-based interns between March 1, 2022, and Feb. 28. The list included companies that had at least 30 salary reports made during that time.
