A recent study conducted by ResumeBuilder reveals a significant trend among employees mandated to return to the office by their employers: more than half of them are actively seeking new job opportunities. Out of the respondents surveyed, 18% are presently engaged in job searches, while 36% intend to commence their job hunt within the current year.

Moreover, a substantial portion of those seeking new employment are doing so with great diligence. 11% are applying to over 10 positions weekly, 28% are applying to six to 10 positions, and 60% are applying to one to five jobs.

The primary motivators behind employees seeking new job opportunities include the pursuit of higher salaries (70%), improved benefits packages (56%), and the desire for greater avenues of professional growth (50%).

Companies that prioritise aligning their practices with the preferences of their workforce are the ones successfully retaining talent

Stacie Haller, Chief Career Advisor at ResumeBuilder, emphasised the shift in employee expectations regarding workplace flexibility, stating, “It’s abundantly clear that employees are looking for a greater degree of autonomy in determining how and where they work from.” She further noted, “Companies that prioritise aligning their practices with the preferences of their workforce are the ones successfully retaining talent. Those that do not are witnessing a surge in turnover rates.”

The report also uncovered that 60% of employees wish to reduce their office attendance below current requirements. Among those preferring full-time remote work, a notable 67% expressed willingness to accept a salary reduction.

The survey conducted by ResumeBuilder involved 557 full-time US workers, providing valuable insights into the evolving landscape of employment preferences and practices.
