Recruiting across North Yorkshire’s vast rural landscape presents unique obstacles, but the team’s innovative, localised recruitment strategies have proven effective. “Working to recruit across a large rural area such as North Yorkshire is a huge challenge in terms of talent availability and mobility,” the team noted. To address these challenges, they “had to work creatively and adopt a wide range of strategies to attract talent,” developing recruitment campaigns tailored to different roles. For frontline roles in small villages, they focus on localised efforts, while more specialised or senior roles were supported by “large campaigns with web-campaign sites and media.” This adaptability enabled the team to reach the right candidates across diverse locations, supporting the council’s talent needs effectively.
