We’ve been gathering a huge amount of opinion and insight from our TA community over the last few months to help us understand what’s happening now and what’s happening next in the always interesting world of recruitment and resourcing. Here’s our top eight issues, in a debatable order of priority:

  1. The impact and uses of AI for TA

No real surprise here, AI is already driving profound societal shifts with a significant impact on the evolution of work. How employers strategically adopt AI and ensure there is a balance between an ethical, compliant approach with cost and commercial considerations is a challenge for the ages!

  1. Hiring for skills and total talent management

As structural talent shortages drive a move to hiring for skills, what are the strategic aims and operational challenges of developing an effective approach?

And what does total talent management mean for your organization and is it something to be adopted?

  1. Workforce planning and demand levels

Workforce planning (SWP) has always been an inexact science at best and in today’s markets transformation is a constant and there is no such thing as ‘business as usual.

How can a SWP be linked effectively to organisational strategy and with recent hiring activity at its lowest level for some time, if and when will it rise? How can TA leaders advise their C-suite on resourcing requirements and the most likely areas of demand for talent?

  1. Building agile and resilient resourcing capability

More than just a simple yes/no on recruitment outsourcing, what are the new operating models to create agile and resilient capability across permanence and contingent labor, and how are projects and recruiting spikes/peaks best resourced?

  1. The evolution of EVPs

EVPs are not static, they evolve. The complexity of today’s talent landscape means employers need to understand how issues ranging from managing a multigenerational workforce, developing fair and effective remote/hybrid working policies to engage around a wide array of social issues can be effectively manifested and communicated in an EVP.

  1. The impact of new legislation

Many governments are exploring and enacting new legislation which will impact the ability to attract talent: salary disclosure, assessment algorithms, the right to ‘switch off’, the right to flexible working whilst curtailing zero –hours contracts.

Understanding the latest developments, the potential unintended consequences and the impact on the existing workforce and external talent will be critical

  1. The impact of the convergence of talent acquisition and talent management

Driven by a combination of cost reduction and the increasing blending of internal talent marketplaces with external talent pools, the convergence of talent acquisition and talent management is a long-term trend.

How can TA develop effective strategies to optimise access to right talent at the lowest cost whilst improving attrition and maximizing career development?

  1. The evolution of the DE&I agenda

The scaling back of DE&I activities by many organizations is influenced mainly by the economic climate and the growing politicization of DE&I efforts, which are not only legislative but also cultural.

How can employers ensure effective DE&I is seen as a core part of their business strategy?

It’s exhausting just reading the list of things above never mind having to develop strategies, processes and operational capability to deliver on them.
