Plano, Texas, November 15, 2023 – In light of an impending “new era of turbulence” affecting approximately a quarter of jobs, CYPHER Learning, a provider of modern learning platforms, has conducted research shedding light on the primary concerns of HR and business leaders and their perspectives on generative AI.

The recently released report, titled “Generative AI in 2024: A potential lifeline amid workplace turbulence,” unveils insights from an independent survey involving 400 HR and business leaders in the U.S. and U.K. The findings underscore the significance of upskilling and retention for these leaders, with 76% expressing difficulties in developing training courses with current resources. Moreover, 65% acknowledge the essential nature of upskilling but lament a lack of time to craft pertinent courses.

As the demand for upskilling intensifies, HR and business leaders are grappling with the need to swiftly deliver more courses. To address this challenge, organizations are exploring the potential of generative AI to enhance training effectiveness. However, the study by CYPHER Learning reveals persistent barriers preventing widespread adoption of this technology. Key discoveries include:

– 86% of HR and business leaders or their team members leverage generative AI in their roles.

– 44% harbor concerns about the data security and accuracy of AI-generated outputs, while 52% worry about AI potentially displacing jobs.

– 69% believe AI could simplify their roles, but a lack of knowledge impedes the maximization of its potential. Additionally, 57% admit uncertainty about how AI could benefit their roles.

77% of HR and business leaders would use AI more if they could verify the authenticity of information generated

Graham Glass, CEO and Co-founder of CYPHER Learning, emphasizes the crucial need for robust learning and development courses in the evolving global workforce. He advocates for dispelling concerns about AI’s role in the workplace and calls for a measured approach to implementing generative AI into learning and development.

The study further discloses that generative AI is already a prevalent topic in workplace discussions about Learning and Development (L&D) and HR. However, barriers to AI adoption persist. Current applications of AI by HR and business leaders include:

– 53% using generative AI to create engaging professional development courses.

– 53% employing it to develop assessments for evaluating learner progress.

– 54% utilizing it to save time on course creation.

The report highlights that 77% of HR and business leaders would use AI more if they could verify the authenticity of information generated. Additionally, 87% express openness to using generative AI if it were available in a more user-friendly form, such as being integrated into commercial tools.

Glass asserts that generative AI is enhancing L&D, addressing evolving skills requirements, and providing time and cost savings for organizations. CYPHER Learning recently launched AI 360 with CYPHER Copilot, a comprehensive suite of content creation and delivery tools powered by generative AI. This solution aims to set a new benchmark for efficient, personalized learning by leveraging advanced AI capabilities.
